Privacy Policy

At StudentsCoop.org, you can rest assured that your personal information will never be rented, sold, or otherwise shared with any third party as far as can be helped. Of course, this excludes the sharing of your shipping address with one of our shipping providers, UPS, FedEx, or USPS, in order to ship you your products. This also excludes the transmitting of credit or debit card information (fully encrypted) to the processors as handled by WooCommerce and its plugins, in order to process your payment. These two exceptions are completely normal and necessary for any transaction to take place on any website where a physical product is being sold. In addition, we will never include you on any e-mail newsletter unless you have elected to receive it, nor do we record or store any of your friends’ email addresses that are entered into our “Tell a Friend” fields, or any other e-mail fields on our site, when and where they occur. What we are trying to say is, your information is safe with us.

When you interact with third-party services, which are linked from StudentsCoop.org, such as WordPress or Instagram, your privacy is protected under their Privacy Policies and StudentsCoop.org can no longer be held responsible for your interactions with those sites and services.

Here are some important, but rather standard, points about using StudentsCoop.org and what it has to do with your privacy:

  • Your visit to StudentsCoop.org website is subject to this Privacy Policy and our Terms and Conditions. Thus, by using this website, you are consenting to our collection, storage, and use of your information as set out in the terms. If you would prefer that StudentsCoop.org not collect any information from you, please do not provide us with any such information. You must review this Privacy Policy carefully to make sure you understand our practices and procedures. If you have any questions or comments regarding this Privacy Policy, just ask.
  • Just like the Terms and Conditions document, we may may make changes to this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we do, we will post about it on our site, and you will be expected to read up on the new terms.
  • What do we collect? Well, StudentsCoop.org collects and stores personal information. Personal information means personally identifiable information, such as your name, mailing address, phone number, email address, Facebook account information, and other financial information. We also collect and store non-personal information. Non-personal information includes your browser type, your internet service provider and its location, the URL of the previous website you visited, your operating system, your IP address, and the date and time you accessed the StudentsCoop.org website.
  • What do we do with this information? To be honest, even though we have access to data analysis programs like Google and stuff, we feel a little creepy about the whole thing. I mean, if you read this, or this, you may see why. It’s just weird. But, out of sheer curiosity, we do reserve the right to watch the kinds of visitors that are showing up and using StudentsCoop.org. For the most part, we expect that information will only consist of what sites visitors come from, the popular pages, what search terms brought them to StudentsCoop.org and other standard services of analytics programs built into most hosting providers. We do not use it for scientific or psychological research on people without their consent, unlike certain alphabet organizations we don’t have to mention, ahem. Unfortunately, StudentsCoop.org cannot be held responsible for what those organizations do with the data exchanged between StudentsCoop.org and you or third-parties.
  • If you communicate with StudentsCoop.org, we may collect and store any information that you provide to us in any such communication. This information may include, for instance, your username on the StudentsCoop.org website and your e-mail address associated with the account. As already mentioned, StudentsCoop.org does not actively keep track of e-mails for any reason besides the technical needs of the check out process. Though, if you start or have a conversation with StudentsCoop.org using one of our e-mail addresses like shop@StudentsCoop.org or webmaster@StudentsCoop.org, such communications and contact information does become the property of StudentsCoop.org. Please see Terms and Conditions.StudentsCoop.org uses analytic and reporting technologies to record non-personal information. StudentsCoop.org may also use web beacons and cookies to collect your non-personal information. A cookie is a small file placed on the hard drive of your computer. A web beacon is an often-transparent graphic image, usually no larger than a 1×1 pixel that is placed on a web page or in an e-mail that is used to monitor the behavior of the user visiting the website or receiving the e-mail. Cookies and web beacons used by StudentsCoop.org are not linked to personal information, it’s pretty much what shopping web sites do these days.
  • StudentsCoop.org primarily uses your personal information for processing, producing, and shipping the products that you order, administering StudentsCoop.org conversations, and providing customer service and support. StudentsCoop.org does not share your credit card or other account information with unaffiliated third parties unless you authorize us to do so, or if it is necessary to fulfill our responsibilities including, but not limited to, delivering a product or service that you order. StudentsCoop.org may need to share certain personal information with third party vendors for reasons such as manufacturing, printing, or logistics. The personal information is not provided to these vendors for marketing purposes. Once more, just to be clear, StudentsCoop.org primarily uses your non-personal information to help StudentsCoop.org better understand how StudentsCoop.org visitors use StudentsCoop.org’s services and provide a better experience for our visitors.
  • If you require help with StudentsCoop.org services, StudentsCoop.org may ask you to confirm some of your private information, such as your name, delivery address, or other relevant identifying information. StudentsCoop.org will only e-mail you directly and ask for these details if you have expressed the need to complete an order or apparently need that help for some other reason.
  • Given that the Internet is a global environment, using the Internet to collect and process personal information frequently involves the transmission of data on an international basis. By providing StudentsCoop.org with your personal information, you acknowledge and agree that StudentsCoop.org may store your personal information and transfer it to and from our servers located in the United States and throughout the world.
  • StudentsCoop.org reserves the right to disclose information, including personal information, to third party governmental agencies or third parties in order to comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes or governmental requests (such as in order to comply with a subpoena or court order), to protect StudentsCoop.org’s rights, or to prevent, protect against, or investigate illegal activity such as credit fraud. For example, if you try to pay with a card that doesn’t belong to you, StudentsCoop.org may disclose your information to law enforcement to put a stop to that. Similarly, if you allege that an artist on StudentsCoop.org is infringing upon your intellectual property rights, we may disclose your information to that designer. And in that case, please follow our DMCA Policy.
  • In the event StudentsCoop.org goes through a business transition, such as a merger, acquisition, or sale, your personal information could likely be among the assets transferred to a successor-in-interest. StudentsCoop.org reserves the right to transfer any personal and non-personal information to such successor-in-interest.
  • StudentsCoop.org website is intended for adults. StudentsCoop.org does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 18, let alone the age of 13. You are required to be 18 years old to use StudentsCoop.org, as set forth in our Terms and Conditions document. However, if the parent or guardian of a child under 13 believes that the child has provided us with personal information, the parent or guardian of that child should contact us if they want this information deleted from our files so that it is not in retrievable form. If StudentsCoop.org otherwise obtains knowledge that StudentsCoop.org has personally identifiable information about a child under 13 in retrievable form in our files, StudentsCoop.org will delete that information from our existing files so that it is not retrievable. Parents should be aware that children are constantly unwittingly giving out their personal information by interacting with computers, phones, tablets and devices, which are collecting their data unknowingly. Just saying. But we’ll do our part to protect their information, even if all we can do is delete it as it is discovered and/or requested by their parent to do so.

  • StudentsCoop.org uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), an advanced security protocol that protects your credit card information and promotes secure online ordering. SSL Internet connections are encrypted, and may protect credit card ordering information, including your name, address, and credit card number, so it cannot be read in transit. We do not use EV SSL, which is an extreme form of security used by banks. However, most shopping sites below extreme commerce sites like that use the SSL level we use, including Ebay, Etsy and pretty much everyone else. The level we use is considered very secure, and it is virtually required for eCommerce sites like ours. However, please always do your own research on security and technology.
  • StudentsCoop.org maintains that you can always obtain a copy of and request that we correct errors in your personal information by contacting us. For your protection, you will be required to provide proof of your identity to obtain a copy of your personal information. If your personal information changes or if you no longer want to use StudentsCoop.org services, you may correct or update your personal information and/or your account using StudentsCoop.org or by e-mailing us. If you would like to deactivate your account, you can also contact us to request deactivation.
  • If you are a California resident, California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits you to request information regarding the disclosure of your personal information by StudentsCoop.org to third parties for the third parties’ direct marketing purposes. With respect to these entities, this privacy policy applies only to their activities within the State of California. To make such a request, just ask us. We want to be very transparent about this, unlike many other sites.
  • StudentsCoop.org only wants to interact with you and your e-mail addresses when you want. We are respectful people. Your privacy is important to us, and for this reason we will never share or sell your email address with any third parties for direct marketing purposes or pretty much any bad reason. That would be insane and wrong, even though some sites do that. Please note, if you decide not to receive marketing emails from StudentsCoop.org (if that is an option on StudentsCoop.org), you may still receive “Transactional” email messages regarding your order (i.e.; order confirmation, shipping information, customer service notifications, etc.). If you have questions or concerns regarding this statement, please contact us (see contact page).
  • Whenever we obtain your personal information, we use commercially reasonable efforts to protect it from unauthorized access or disclosure. Nevertheless, no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. Accordingly, StudentsCoop.org assumes no liability for any disclosure of data due to errors in transmission, unauthorized third party access, or other acts of third parties, or acts or omissions beyond our reasonable control. We covered this, didn’t we? The content that you store, post, or transmit on or through the StudentsCoop.org website, such as comments or designs, may be accessed by other users, including people that you do not know. We are not responsible for the actions of others. Therefore, you should use care in communicating with other users and only disclose your personal information to other users that you know to be trustworthy. You should not assume that your content will be kept private, basically, if you are on the Internet or use a handheld device with an FCC regulation.

If you have any other comments or queries about our privacy policy or the way we collect and use your information please ask!
